Ship management requires expertise in LNG shipping and access to experienced and professional technical, commercial and seagoing staff. North West Shelf Shipping technical and commercial employees are seconded from the venture participants, while our ship managers are drawn from STASCo (Shell), BP Shipping and Chevron Shipping. Shell Tankers Australia mans and manages the Australian flagged ships.
In conjunction with LNG supply, North West Shelf Shipping provides a range of LNG shipping solutions, including delivered sales, shipping partnerships and consultancy services. In developing these solutions, North West Shelf Shipping has the ability to draw on its own expertise, as well as that of the North West Shelf Venture participants nd North West Shelf Australia LNG, the Venture's LNG marketing agency.
In any LNG export project, shipping forms a vital link between the gas producer and the gas consumer, and the highest quality built and operated ships are required to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of cargoes.
Large, powerful and among the most advanced in the world, the vessels that service the Australia-Asia LNG trade route are specially designed to carry LNG from the Burrup Peninsula in Western Australia's north west to receiving terminals around the world.
Symbolising the historical link between the North West Shelf Venture and its foundation customers in Japan spanning 20 years, the North West Shelf Shipping fleet are named after birds which are either permanent inhabitants or regular visitors to both Australia's North West and Japan.
